We always hear everyone talk about how we should run every day. Why is running beneficial to health?. But, how exactly do we do this? Running is not as easy as some might think, so how does one make it easy? Have you been wondering the same thing? Then this article is for you:
HAVE A GOAL TO REACH– Running is relaxing, therapeutic and fun, but not exactly at the beginning. Do not give up because you hated it on the first day. Have a goal for yourself to reach, every day. You can go on increasing the distance, however you like. The important tip here is to keep looking forward towards your goal, and your run will become shorter and easier.
DRINK WATER: Dehydration can cause a ton of physical problems in general; it is much worse if you are engaged in physical activities like running and do not drink water. This is because we tend to lose a lot of body weight while sweating, which can cause fatigue, dizziness, cramps and more. Drink if you want to avoid these obstacles and reach your goal faster and easier.
TAKE IT EASY: Running is not just about moving fast and not stopping. This makes you totally tired and you get scared of running because this is not the right way to do it. Slowing down and breaking up your runs is equally important. Start slow, increase your speed in the middle, walk for a mile, run again, and cool- down. Slowing down is important for the body to feel energised, happy and not tired.
WEAR, DON’T WEAR: What I mean by this, is that you must always dress comfortably when you go for a run. Choose the right type of shoes that make running enjoyable, and don’t wear quickly. Select smarter socks because the thickness of socks can sometimes make a huge difference while running. Coming to clothes, choose something light- weight that absorbs sweat and in which you can breathe comfortably.
SELF- CARE:. You will have to make some changes in your daily habits as well- you must sleep well so that you don’t wear out and your muscles get time to recover, take rest days and take them seriously, get ‘sports massages’, and go for easier runs after one heavy run.
LOOK OUT FOR FOOD: Again, if you want to get better at running, some changes in the daily routine will be required- food is definitely counted. Make sure you eat your vegetables, fruits and everything in between because they not only increase your stamina but also help cure sore muscles and tissues. Try going for a run on an empty stomach, or not eating in the time frame of two hours before going. Eat a proper meal after you have a run. You can also add caffeine to your diet as it makes you run with a higher intensity and for a longer time.
DO NOT GIVE UP: The most important secret to get better at running is that you should not give up! This is very obvious, but everyone needs to hear this. Everything else may help you get better at running quicker, but it will only happen with time. Believe in yourself and keep going; the results will show up before you even notice!
Running is indeed very beneficial for your health, and now you also know how to get more efficient at it! One such initiative started in the UK is the Daily Mile. We wish you a safe and enjoyable run!
