London airports are known to be among the busiest airports in the world. With millions of people going to and coming from the London airports  it is no surprise that there is a shortage of reliable taxi drivers. However, one should not get disheartened as there are still taxis available for hire at London airports. London Heathrow and London Gatwick airports have their own unique taxi service which you can book online. The charges will depend on the time you need the taxi and how many destinations you intend to go to.

When you want to hire a taxi at Gatwick Airport, you can choose either the yellow cabs or the green cabs. Both these taxis are reasonably priced. London Heathrow and London Gatwick charge extra for the car because it is a foreign owned car, so if you do not really need a taxi this would be an economical alternative.

The green taxi that comes to your assistance is perfect if you are going out of town for the weekend and do not need the taxi service all through the city. There is also another advantage with this type of taxi. Since the driver knows all the streets to take, you won’t have to wait for a cab at the airport. Gatwick has its own airport station, but London Heathrow airport shares this with another airport.

As mentioned, you can book the taxi online. This is usually the best option if you want convenience, security and comfort. Of course, you can also call the local taxi services in the area to book a car. If you are staying for a few days or a week, you might want to consider renting a car instead of using the taxi service. It is cheaper than using the taxi.

For instance, if you are going to visit the Kensington Churchyard, you can hire a car for the day. It would only cost you about $20. However, you will be expected to tip the driver. If you do not have money on you at the time of the trip, the airport would allow you to call a local taxi company and pay the fee in advance. Even if you do not hire a vehicle from the airport, you can still use this service to go to nearby locations such as the Chelsea Flower Market and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Another reason why people should hire a car rather than taking an airport transfer is safety. Even when the airport is being crowded, there is no need for you to risk driving around London in rush hour traffic when you do not require a car. At the same time, if you are planning to drive around London with a group, it would be nice to know that you would be able to get a taxi at the drop of a hat. There would be no embarrassing situations where everyone suddenly notices that you are driving a car without a license.

Some hotels are charging extra fees for the airport transfer service. You would not want to end up paying hundreds of dollars for a taxi ride just because you decided to rent a car from the airport. There are plenty of companies that are willing to offer you a deal so that you can save money. Plus, if you end up going home before your flight due to financial reasons, you would not have to worry about how you would get to your hotel.

The best thing about hiring an airport transfer is that you would never have to worry about parking at the airport. A taxi would pick you up right where you are staying, so all you would have to do is drop off your luggage at the specified location. Once you reach the departure lounge, you can simply walk out into the sunshine.
