How to Fix QuickBooks Error 3371 ?

All QuickBooks errors are displayed for a specific reason why QuickBooks could not be loaded on a pop-up in the foreground whenever the user encounters them. Below are some of the specific symptoms that users may notice when they encounter QuickBooks Error 3371 or one of its variants.

  • An error code with a specific status code will appear if any.
  • Users will not be able to access company files and other data as a fatal error.
  • Some users may experience a lag in keyboard or mouse inputs.
  • Users may even experience system crashes in extreme cases.

When will QuickBooks Error 3371 be displayed on the desktop?

While there are no specific circumstances in which QuickBooks Error 3371 or its variations are thrown, users are more likely to encounter it when QuickBooks Desktop is newly activated. Below are some scenarios in which users may have encountered an error:

  • Moving the installation of QuickBooks from one system to another.
  • Misplaced or damaged license information during the installation of QuickBooks.
  • Issues related to Windows installation. Either the operating system may not support the QuickBooks version or the MSXML component may be corrupted.
  • Move data between drives.

Apart from these direct causes, there may be other factors, such as changes to the configuration of anti-virus software and network issues, which may block the QuickBooks files that cause these errors.

How to Fix QuickBooks Error 3371?

The steps to diagnose and correct the error are primarily concerned with correcting damaged files and recovering lost data. Follow the same steps to effectively resolve QuickBooks Error 3371.

Step 1: Reinstall the Entitlement file

The entitlement file contains information to confirm with Intuit that the system installation of QuickBooks is valid and has been registered. Deleting the existing file and registering QuickBooks with the correct license information and Product Number is the first step in the resolution process:

  • Search for the EntitlementDataStore.ECML file in the Entitlement Client subfolder under the ProgramData Intuit folder.
  • Delete the file and open QuickBooks again.
  • Proceed with the instructions on the screen to re-register QuickBooks on the system.

Re-registering QuickBooks is the easiest way to ensure that all required files are configured as needed.

If reconfiguring QuickBooks doesn’t solve the problem, chances are, it’s a Windows installation issue. Take the next step if the issue persists.

Step 2: Update Windows manually

If QuickBooks worked fine on the Windows system and stopped working all of a sudden, your system probably hasn’t been updated with the latest Windows files.

  • Search to check for updates in the system settings.
  • Make sure you see the message “You ‘re up to date.”
  • If necessary, perform a basic reset of QuickBooks.

If this approach still doesn’t work, the last resort is to make a clean install.

Step 3: Proceed with a clean installation

A clean installation is the last resort when the issue is deeply rooted. Replaces the files on the system to completely reset the QuickBooks software.

The QuickBooks Clean Installation Tool is available in the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Erases program files that are not removed by simply uninstalling and reinstalling QuickBooks. This tool does not work for QuickBooks 2020 in which folders have to be renamed manually.
